Landscape course

A fabulous time was had last Saturday indulging in one of my favorite subjects: Landscape! Participants from Cardigan to the South Wales valleys spent the day learning how to transform wool fibres into a landscape at Carmel community hall near Crosshands, Carmarthenshire. It was a happy mixture of beginners and some with experience.

WonderWool Wales 2016

I'm very excited to announce that I have been asked to teach a workshop at Wonderwool Wales  April 23-24 2016. More details here at the Wonderwool Wales website.

This year was the first time I had a stand at the show and had a fabulous time in wool heaven with thousands of other wool addicts! So next year I will have a stand again but will also be running two workshops (each 2 hrs long), can't wait!

West Wales Wool Show 2015

Thanks to Bettina and everyone else at the Pembrokeshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. who worked so hard to make the West Wales Wool Show such  a great day. Held in Narberth in October it is a must for any wool addict in West Wales. There was so much to see: felting, spinning, weaving, crochet, peg loom weaving, knitting .......Worried about your shrinking yarn stash then this is the place to come!

Magic at the Garden

I enjoyed making a felted fungi 'tableau' recently in the Great Glasshouse at the National Botanic Garden of Wales' contribution to Wales Fungus Day (part of UK Fungus Day). I was amazed at how many of my felt pieces made over the years resemble parts of the natural world. What I created really did remind me of a woodland floor. I added some quartz crystals and quite magically local hero Myrddin, (Merlin) popped up in the midst of the textile tangle. Later a pink and gold goddess with a wand appeared and cast a spell on all who came by..................

 Felt fungi based on actual species of fungi - Green Russula and False Chanterelle.

West Wales Wool Show prep

Getting ready for the wonderful West Wales Wool Show in Narberth, Queen's Hall, this Sat. It's a fab day for any wool addicts that can't wait till next April for the big one that is Wonderwool Wales. There'll be felting, crochet, knitting, spinning, infact anything to do with wool from West Wales.

Here are some bags of curls and silk fibres I have been dyeing ready for the show.

There'll be felting kits too......unique hand blended merino wool batts with decorative yarns and extra curls to make fantastic textured felt.......

I have been dyeing Wensleydale curls - I just love 'em, absolutely divine and yummy! So right for  for adding extra texture to your felting projects
